ORO Labs

Procurement, connected through orchestration.

orolabs.ai

ORO Labs is an enterprise technology company specialising in AI-powered procurement orchestration. Its platform connects people, processes and existing enterprise systems to simplify purchasing workflows, supplier management and approvals.

Rather than replacing an organisation's existing procurement infrastructure, ORO acts as an orchestration layer that brings these systems together into a more connected experience.

The ORO Platform

AI-powered Intake

Understands employee requests and guides them towards the appropriate procurement process.

Supplier Management

Supports supplier onboarding, information management and qualification.

Workflow Orchestration

Coordinates complex processes, approvals and cross-functional collaboration.

AI & Agentic Workflows

Uses AI capabilities and configurable agents to support and automate procurement activities.

Industry and Customers

At a Glance

Challenge

Enterprise procurement workflows involve complex information, from supplier assessments and financial metrics to supporting records. Representing this information within configurable forms requires balancing flexibility for form authors with clarity for requesters.

Approach

Explore reusable information components and interaction patterns within ORO's AI Form Builder, focusing on data mapping, component configuration, information hierarchy and contextual interactions.

Aim

Develop a consistent and flexible approach to presenting AI-generated procurement information through configurable Summary Blocks, Table Sections and data visualizations.

Project Context

Understanding the product

ORO is an enterprise procurement orchestration platform that helps organizations manage purchasing workflows, supplier relationships and approvals.

The AI Form Builder enables organizations to create and configure forms for different procurement processes. Within this environment, AI-generated information needs to be presented in ways that are structured, adaptable and easy to interact with.

My Role

As an UX Design Intern

I worked on enhancing ORO's AI Form Builder, focusing on how complex procurement information is structured, configured and presented.

Key Contributions (till now)

Component Design

Explored and refined reusable Summary Blocks and Table Sections.

Interaction Design

Defined patterns for inline editing, column configuration, selection and component behaviour.

Information Architecture

Structured different data types into clear and consistent information hierarchies.

AI-assisted Design

Used AI-native workflows for interface exploration, rapid prototyping and design iteration.

Design Systems

Maintained consistency with ORO's existing UI patterns and component language.

The Challenge

Making complex information easier to structure and consume

Procurement forms often contain different types of information, each with its own presentation and interaction requirements. A financial metric, a supplier assessment and a collection of structured records cannot always follow the same visual or behavioural pattern. The challenge was to explore how these different information types could be represented within a unified Form Builder without compromising configurability or usability.

Central design question

How might we make complex procurement information easier to configure, understand and interact with within an AI-powered Form Builder?

The underlying challenges

Information complexity

Representing different data types without forcing them into a uniform presentation.

Configuration flexibility

Giving form authors control over data mapping, presentation and component behaviour.

Dual user requirements

Balancing the configuration needs of authors with the consumption needs of requesters.

Interaction consistency

Establishing predictable behaviours across components with different purposes.

Design Scope

Three interconnected areas of exploration

Summary Blocks: Structuring key information

Exploring modular components to present metrics, key facts, summaries, findings, sources and comparisons.

Table Sections: Managing structured records

Exploring flexible table layouts, data-type-specific cells, inline editing, column configuration and row interactions.

Reference only, SaaS dashboard component and builder interface by Luke Dalton on dribble. Not the actual work.

Data Visualisations: Exploring visual representations

Investigating how charts and visual comparisons could communicate procurement data within the form experience.

Understanding the Users

Two perspectives, one form experience

Design consideration

Configuration complexity should remain with the author, while the resulting form should feel intuitive to the requester.
